SCYFOOD > Whisky Glen Albyn 1966 Gordon and MacPhail Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY The distillery was officially founded in 1844 by James Sutherland in the Scottish town of Inverness, The distillery was put up for sale from 1855 but, as no buyer was found, it was used as a grain mill until 1884. In 1920 it was taken over by James Mackinlay and John Birnie, and in 1972 it was sold to Distillers Company Limited. The distillery was closed in 1983 and the buildings were demolished in 1986. This is a 1966 vintage from Gordon & MacPhail, bottled in 2005. In 2018, this style of release from the Elgin-based bottlers was named the Distillery Labels series. 70cl/43%
