SCYFOOD > Bordeaux Chateau Monbousquet Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY Robert Parker has described this St. Emilion Special Class chateau as "the equivalent of a third or fourth growth in the Médoc since 1993. The former owners did not have a winery in Monbousquet, and all the grapes were transported to Libourne, where they were vinified. However, after purchasing the chateau, the new owner, Gérard Pels (who also owns Chateau Pavie), first built a winery in Montbusquet and began making wine there in 1994. In less than 10 years there, it rose to become one of the top chateaus in Saint-Emilion, receiving 95 Parker points for the 2000 vintage. It has transformed itself from the easy-drinking Montbusquet of the past into a superstar of Saint-Emilion. Currently, Michel Rolland, a super oenologist from the Right Bank, serves as a consultant.
