SCYFOOD > Other Regions Harlan Estate Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY Harlan Estate was founded in 1984 by Bill Harlan, a successful real estate developer and owner of the magnificent Medwood resort in Napa Valley, with the vision of "making California wines from Oakville that rival the first-class chateaus of the Medoc in France. The Napa Valley at that time was flat. At the time, it was common practice in Napa Valley to grow grapes on flat land, but after 15 years of land selection and diligent research and investigation, he carved out 97 hectares of land in the hills west of Oakville and created terraces along the contour lines of north and northeast facing slopes at 68 to 374 meters above sea level. The soils are 1/3 sedimentary and 2/3 volcanic, surfaced by crushed Franciscan shale. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot are planted on sites suitable for each grape variety. The wine director is Bob Levy, the consultant is Michel Rolland, the vineyard manager is Mary Ma, and the winemaker is Cory Empting. The same members have been working consistently and with commitment for 30 years since the establishment. By conducting scientific research while incorporating European traditions and techniques, they have rapidly succeeded in narrowing the quality gap in winemaking with Europe. With a winery and underground cellar that incorporate the latest technology, great wines that combine tradition and innovation have been produced since the first vintage in 1990. 100/100 75cl
