SCYFOOD > Bordeaux Chateau Rieussec Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY Located to the east of Château d'Yquem, a representative of Sauternes, is Château Rieussec, a first class rated wine in the Sauternes area. It has always been highly acclaimed despite frequent changes in ownership, but the quality of the wine was greatly improved when Albert Veyère became the owner in 1971. In 1984, Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the owners of Château Lafite Rothschild, took possession of Château Rieussec. The winemaking process at Château Rieussec has become even more rigorous, with the aim of producing the best possible wine without compromise. Château Rieussec owns vineyards on a small hill leading from Château d'Yquem, one of the best sites in Sauternes. The large 92 hectares of vineyards currently owned are similar to the neighboring Château d'Yquem in terms of soil composition, with a thin layer of sandy soil with gravel on the topsoil and clay underneath. The three varieties grown are Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Compared to noble rot wines made from two varieties, such as Château d'Yquem, this wine has a deep floral aroma. 75cl x 12
