SCYFOOD > Whisky Bowmore 1991 Keizō Saji's Cask 21 Year Old Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY Established in 1779, Bowmore is tought to be the oldest distillery on Islay and still operates its own floor maltings, Distillery is located on the eastern shore of Loch Indaal, a large bay on the west coast of Islay. Its main winery is even below sea level. Bowmore is known for producing a very wide variety of whiskies of different ages and maturations. Its single malt is not as peated as its large southern neighbors, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Caol Ila or Laphroaig, but is more powerful than its northern neighbors Bruichladdich. In 1991, the then president of Suntory, Mr Keizō Saji, visited Bowmore distillery and oversaw the filling of a single sherry cask. After the death of Mr Saji in 1999, his son visited Bowmore distillery and donated his fathers cask to the employees of Morrison Bowmore. 70cl/55%
