SCYFOOD > Other Regions Barolo Cappellano Contact Customer Service ENQUIRY Founded in 1870, Cappellano was originally a large winery with over 60 hectares of vineyards in Serralunga. The company made wine not only from its own vineyards, but also from purchased grapes, and it was recognized as a "connoisseur" of grapes, and the phrase "grapes bought by Cappellano" was a guarantee of the high quality of its grapes. Today, the company has only a few hectares of vineyards, mainly in Gabutti, one of Barolo's leading crus, and produces four types of wine. Augusto, the current head of the winery, has completely followed his father's ism in his approach in the vineyards and winemaking philosophy, but has spent years sorting through the "chaos" left to him by his father, Theobald, who was a genius, while bringing in his own ideas and making minor changes within the winery. The winery has undergone minor changes over the years.
