Even though classified under “second growth” status in 1855, Château Mouton Rothschild was elevated to “first growth” status 1973. This has been the only time changes have been made to the classification of 1855. It is from this occasion the former motto “First I can not be, second I do not deign to be. Mouton I am”, became “First I am, second I used to be. Mouton does not change”. Château Mouton Rothschild is particularly known for the labels on the bottles as a different artist designs these every year.
